Calvin and Eddrick on the show!

Calvin Lincoln has one of the most extensive collections of rare Soul music videos on the West Coast.  Remember the week in '74 when Sly Stone co-hosted the Mike Douglas show? You don't? Well, Calvin has the entire week's run of shows. What about the classic James Brown concert from '68 when Martin Luther King was killed? Calvin's got it. Jackson Five concerts? He's got those. Calvin's collection includes every episode of Soul Train (with commercials) as well as every black artist who appeared on American Bandstand. VH1, black music scholars, and many producers of Artist retrospective shows  have all at one time or another given Calvin a call for video clips.

Calvin's roots are in the Bay Area but by his own count he has spent at least one week per month in LA. He takes a scholarly approach to adding to his collection. Throughout the years he has made extensive contacts in the music business. He has befriended artists, producers, d- jays, and a host of record company executives. Calvin has an intrinsic knowledge of Funk, Soul, and R & B. He has even studied session logs from a variety of classic sessions and he can recite them by memory. This man is serious about the music.

SOULSCHOOL began production in the early nineties. He began the show on the Bay Vision East network with bare bones video equipment and a turn table. SOULSCHOOL was designed to teach young people about their music history and to bring back memories to folks who are from that era. Calvin has gotten calls from a variety of big time artists who've seen the show. Some of them, thanks to shady contracts, don't even have copies of their own video performances.

Calvin has filmed over 250 episodes of SOULSCHOOL with no plans to stop production. Tune in every Friday night in the Bay Area on cable channel 26. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. If you would like to request a video by your favorite classic Soul artist please call 510-986-9594. Or you can send an email:  SOULSCHOOL
